Dear Yuletide Writer, 2014
Oct. 26th, 2014 04:04 amGreetings, Yuletide writer!
Thanks for offering to write a story for me! You are clearly a person with excellent taste in fandoms, and I'm sure I'll love whatever you write. My optional details in the requests over at AO3 give a basic idea of what I'm looking for, but if you'd like a bit more information about my preferences, here it is.
I'm afraid this letter is rather long, but please don't be intimidated or annoyed. I wax prolix here because I'm naturally long-winded and because my journal is fairly empty (in recent years it seems to consist entirely of Yuletide letters) so my letter is the main guide to my preferences for an author who wants one, not because I'm picky and hard to please. If you're not someone who likes getting a lot of additional detail, feel free to skip it entirely.
Beneath the cut you will find my squicks and more detailed thoughts on yaoi, the characters, the fandoms, and possible directions you may want to take your story in, if you find yourself in need of inspiration.
( Optional details, the (very) extended edition. )

Dear Yuletide Writer
Nov. 18th, 2011 03:59 pmHi there, mysterious Yuletide writer!
Thanks so much for offering to write a story for me! You are an awesome person, and you clearly have excellent taste in fandoms.
I wax pretty prolix here, because a) that's how I roll, and b) this journal is almost empty so unless we already know each other from Lolitics you won't know anything about me or my preferences unless I say it here. Which can make a writing assignment rather intimidating, and the last thing I want to do is alarm you when you're writing me a lovely story.
If you'd rather not be inundated with tl;dr, my optional details in the requests over at AO3 will give you the general outlines of what I'm after. Under the cut you will find my squicks and more detailed thoughts on yaoi, the characters, the fandoms, and possible directions you may want to take your story in, if you find yourself in need of inspiration.
( Optional details, the extended edition. And I really do mean extended. )

I just had a dream in which Neil Burnside and Tintin stumbled across each other when they were infiltrating a secret Russian base. Naturally Neil tried to persuade Tintin to blow up the master computer- and himself with it, because the only way to get to it was suicide bombing. (For those of you who are concerned for the lad, Tintin was initially talked into the plan but balked when it came to the moment of truth. A sulking Neil extricated them both safely from the base, and the KGB got to keep their computer. KGB - 1, SIS - 0, just like a real Sandbaggers episode. There was also a random side plot involving Wellingham and Jacob Rees-Mogg sitting around Wellingham's club complaining about Americans, which was the best part of the dream- also like a real Sandbaggers episode.)
I'm unsure of the logistics that placed Neil in an active theatre and Tintin in 1980, but I can't deny that if the situation ever occurred this is exactly how Neil would have handled it.
Oh Neil. I'd forgotten the extent to which we are, as the saying goes, refreshed and and challenged by your unique point of view. I was waffling on whether to ask for Sandbaggers for Yuletide but I think I may have to go for it, because Neil's well-intentioned extremism really is like no other. Also, Wellingham.
